I know that I have previously given them a shoutout on my personal social media accounts, but I wanted to dedicate a specific pre-Appalachian Trail thru-hike post and huge thanks to The Trek website and the Backpacker Radio Podcast (brought to you by the Trek). Today, I finally caught up with all 158 total hours of Backpacker Radio, Trail Correspondents, and the short series The Attempt.
As I said previously in my personal spaces regarding Trail Correspondents, these three podcasts provide are invaluable resources/crash courses/general amusement if you have any interest in long distance or thru-hiking. Or perhaps you know somebody who has that specific interest and you just want to see what it is all about…wink.
The Trek website provides a platform for numerous established and noob hikers and thru-hikers to share their wisdom and their stories. Owner/Editor/Founder Zach Davis and company have done a fantastic job putting together a tiny media empire that that not only caters to this weird/awesome/enthusiastic community, but to those who are curious or love or support somebody who happens to be.
To say the information provided across these platforms has been a huge asset in planning and preparing for this hike (these hikes) would be selling these folks short. Give the podcasts a listen and peruse the website. You won’t be disappointed. I certainly was not.
